Do you use ChatGPT to write your LinkedIn posts? You're definitely not alone!
Artificial intelligence has made content creation easier and faster than ever. But recently, LinkedIn has been cracking down on posts considered too generic or repetitive.
On October 8, 2026, new information was released about how LinkedIn uses AI to detect this type of content, also known as AI slop.
So, how can you continue using ChatGPT without risking a drop in visibility on LinkedIn?
Over the past few months, LinkedIn has seen a growing number of posts created using artificial intelligence.
The problem? Some posts look very similar, repeat the same ideas, and don't really provide any new information.
These posts are referred to as AI slop, a term used to describe AI-generated content that lacks originality or added value.
To reduce the amount of this content on the platform, LinkedIn has strengthened its detection systems.
And the first results are already visible: according to LinkedIn, views of posts classified as AI slop dropped by 40% across the platform in September 2026.
The platform uses artificial intelligence itself to identify repetitive or irrelevant content.
Its system relies mainly on two types of models:
LinkedIn also uses user feedback and human moderators to improve its detection tools.
As a result, LinkedIn reports a 94% precision rate in identifying generic content among posts distributed beyond users' immediate networks.
This does not mean that 94% of posts written with ChatGPT are detected. The figure refers to the system's precision when classifying content as AI slop.
LinkedIn is not trying to penalize every post written with ChatGPT.
Instead, the platform mainly targets content that provides little real value to readers.
Here are a few examples:
A post can therefore be well written but still offer little value to its audience.
On the other hand, a post created with the help of ChatGPT can perform perfectly well on LinkedIn if it provides useful information and an original perspective.
Since July 2026, LinkedIn has allowed users to report posts they find too artificial or generic.
To do so, simply click the three dots on a post and select the "Looks like AI slop" option.
This feature quickly gained traction: more than one million members used it within the first two weeks of its launch.
But be careful: reporting a post does not automatically mean it will be removed or penalized.
LinkedIn uses this feedback to improve its detection systems. When a post receives enough reports, its author may also see a notification in their analytics.
The goal is to better understand what kind of content users actually want to see in their feeds.
Good news: you can absolutely continue using ChatGPT to write your LinkedIn posts!
The key is to maintain your own writing style and share information that genuinely interests your audience.
1. Share your experience. A concrete example, a real-life experience, or a personal observation adds more value than generic advice.
2. Fact-check your content. Before publishing a statistic or news story suggested by ChatGPT, make sure the information is accurate.
3. Personalize your writing. Adapt the wording to your own communication style and avoid constantly using the same structures.
4. Provide useful information. Focus on practical advice, relevant data, and examples your readers can apply themselves.
5. Review your posts before publishing. ChatGPT can help you organize your ideas or improve your writing, but the final version should reflect your expertise.
LinkedIn also recommends reviewing and editing AI-assisted content before publishing it.
With these new measures, LinkedIn aims to give more visibility to posts that provide valuable information and encourage meaningful conversations between professionals.
Artificial intelligence remains a valuable tool for saving time, generating ideas, and improving your writing. But when it comes to growing your visibility, the quality of your posts and your expertise make all the difference.
