Is there a Lidl that’s even cheaper than Lidl? Yes: Lidl Outlet!
If you’ve ever wanted to get your hands on the famous Lidl trainers, a Pilates reformer, a Lidl air fryer, or some of those products that disappeared from the shelves a little too quickly… you’re going to like what comes next.
In 2026, Lidl Outlet continues to attract attention with new locations opening across France. And beyond the bargains, this new format is also raising several questions for the retail sector: where are these stores opening? How much retail space do they require?
Lidl Outlet is Lidl’s clearance store format dedicated to discounted non-food products.
Launched in June 2025, the concept began with two pilot stores in Saint-Pierre-du-Perray, in the Essonne department, and Buchelay, in the Yvelines department.
The idea is simple: non-food products from Lidl supermarkets are brought together in dedicated stores, with discounts ranging from 30% to 60%.
DIY, home appliances, sports equipment, homeware, fashion and toys: Lidl Outlet gives customers another opportunity to find products from Lidl’s own brands, including Parkside, Silvercrest and Crivit.
The objective is twofold:
Lidl has also created a specific identity for the format, with its own logo and “Outlet” signage, while retaining the brand’s iconic colours.
Since 2025, Lidl has continued to roll out its Outlet format across several French cities.
As of September 2026, five locations have been announced:
The latest opening is in Mauguio, which opened on 18 September 2026 in a former Lidl store.
In just over a year, Lidl Outlet has grown from two pilot stores to a format present across several regions of France. Its expansion will be worth following to see which cities welcome the next locations.
Recent openings already provide some insight into the retail space occupied by Lidl Outlet stores:
These locations suggest that a Lidl Outlet can operate in spaces of around 600 to 800 m².
This configuration allows the format to fit into different types of commercial premises and creates new location opportunities for the retailer.
Lidl Outlet operates alongside several well-established players in the discount and clearance retail market:
What makes Lidl Outlet different? The format mainly relies on Lidl’s own products and private-label brands, such as Parkside, Silvercrest and Crivit.
This gives Lidl the opportunity to develop its own clearance model while benefiting from an already well-established brand awareness.
For the retail sector, the arrival of Lidl Outlet adds another format worth watching in France’s growing discount market.
Low prices, regularly changing stock and new ways of using commercial spaces: Lidl Outlet adds a new dimension to Lidl’s business model and creates interesting opportunities for both retail and commercial real estate.
The discount sector continues to reshape retail formats and locations across France.
